Hong Kong singer Aaron Kwok unharmed after sudden fall from stage in Taipei

Hong Kong singer Aaron Kwok Fu-shing has assured fans he is in good shape despite tumbling out of the spotlight with a thud when he fell off a stage during the first night of a three-part concert in Taipei.

The 59-year-old singer, dubbed one of Cantopop’s four “heavenly kings” since the 1990s, fell on Friday after he finished a song and started walking backwards off the stage.

The singer, wearing an eye-catching sparkling outfit for the show, was seen suddenly dropping out of the spotlight with a loud thud, catching thousands of fans by surprise and prompting footage of the incident to start circulating online.

Kwok took to social media in the early hours of Saturday morning to reassure fans that he was unharmed. He explained that he had fallen through an empty hydraulic platform after failing to spot the gap.

“I took an empty step on the hydraulic platform, and the microphone hit one side of the platform and made a big noise. The microphone was new and got scratched as a result, but I hit nothing,” he said.

“Sorry for leaving so many people worried about me.”

Fans voiced their support for the star on social media, with Kwok’s post attracting 5,300 likes and nearly 300 comments nine hours after he published it.
