A suspect in Saturday’s shooting at Brown University that left two people dead and nine injured has been arrested after an extensive manhunt, NBC said.
The shooting occurred in a classroom on Saturday, on the second day of final exams for the fall semester at the Ivy League institution, which has a student population of about 11,000.
Surveillance footage released by authorities showed the alleged shooter walking away from the Providence, Rhode Island, campus.
In the brief clip, the person whose face is not visible, is dressed in dark, loose-fitting pants and jacket, and wearing a knit cap.
A man believed to be responsible for the incident has been taken into custody, NBC reported early on Sunday, citing senior law enforcement officers briefed on the matter.
The man had a unique characteristic on his firearm and that firearm was found when he was taken into custody, the outlet added.
